Tab2Txt is a browser-based transcription tool that converts audio from any browser tab into text in real time. It captures audio using the browser's Tab Audio Capture API and transcribes it using Whisper AI models. The result is a downloadable .txt transcript of any audio playing in your browser.
What browsers does Tab2Txt support?
Tab2Txt works with all Chromium-based desktop browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, and Vivaldi. Firefox and Safari are not supported because they lack the tab audio capture API that Tab2Txt requires. Mobile browsers are also not supported — Tab2Txt is a desktop-only tool.
What audio sources can I transcribe?
Tab2Txt can transcribe any audio playing in a browser tab — video calls (Google Meet, Zoom, Teams), streaming content (YouTube, Netflix, Spotify), podcasts, webinars, online lectures, and any other web-based audio. If it plays in a browser tab, Tab2Txt can transcribe it to text.
How accurate is the transcription?
Tab2Txt uses OpenAI's Whisper model running on Groq hardware. Whisper Large v3 achieves approximately 3% word error rate on clear audio. For noisy audio or heavy accents, results may vary. Select the Whisper v3 model (instead of Turbo) for better accuracy at slightly higher latency.
Is my audio stored or recorded?
No. Audio chunks are sent directly to the transcription API and are immediately discarded. Nothing is stored on our servers. Only the resulting text transcript can be stored (Pro and Business plans only, when you explicitly choose to save).
What happens to unused token pack minutes?
Token pack minutes never expire. They are credited to your account and used when your free trial runs out or you don't have an active subscription. Token balances roll over indefinitely.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your dashboard at any time. Your subscription stays active until the end of the billing period. No hidden fees or cancellation charges.
